A 350-page study, two years of work, and contributions from sixteen authors across six European countries: Rewilding Apennines and Rewilding Europe have published the document assessing the conditions for reintroducing two large vulture species to the Central Apennines.

On 6 March, 25 griffon vultures from Spain arrived in the Apennines. It is the beginning of a three-year initiative to strengthen a still fragile population and restore essential natural processes across the landscape — part of a far greater picture.

The bird, which had been poisoned by lead, was treated at the Cruma Lipu and then released in the Orecchiella Park, in Tuscany.
