“Wild Tales”, the first international literature competition on rewilding topics

Rewilding Apennines announces the first international literature competition entitled “Wild tales” to actively promote the rewilding culture.

“WILD TALES”

In order to fight crimes against fauna and the environment and to spread an active culture of legality and respect for nature and living beings, this year the theme of the competition is dedicated to support Rewilding Apennines’ campaign #LetsNotPoisonOurselves. Therefore, it is aimed at short works of fiction focused on denouncing the criminal practice of using toxic substances to the detriment of animals.

 

SHORT STORIES

Short stories about the abovementioned topic (a maximum of 3 pages, A4 format, font size 12, 1.5 spacing in Times New Roman).

The works must be sent to Rewilding Apennines, emailing info@rewilding-apennines.com, BY AND NO LATER THAN JULY 15, 2024 (the date of arrival of the email will be considered).

 

PARTICIPATION REGULATIONS

Art. 1 – The competition is international and open to everyone. Members of the board of directors, staff of Rewilding Apennines ETS and Rewilding Europe are excluded.

Art. 2 – Participants can submit a maximum of two stories. The written works must be original and in Italian or English. Participation is free of charge.

Art. 3 – Authors of other nationalities are allowed to participate, while maintaining the conditions of the previous article.

Art. 4 – Stories must be submitted by email to info@rewilding-apennines.com by midnight on July 15, 2024, along with personal information and a declaration of acceptance of the participation regulations.

Art. 5 – By participating in the competition, the participant certifies that:

  • the work is their own and unpublished, releasing Rewilding Apennines from any potential disputes, even from third parties;
  • they accept all the rules stated in the competition announcement;
  • they authorize the use
    • a) of personal data in accordance with the Italian law N. 196/2003 for privacy protection
    • b) of the works submitted for purposes related to the event.

Art. 6 – Participation does not imply the transfer of copyright. All texts received may be published on Rewilding Apennines’ website or included in informational and promotional materials, cultural events etc., or on the association’s social media channels with the author’s permission. The submitted works will not be returned.

Art. 7 – Cash prizes must be collected in person. Delegates are allowed only for participants residing abroad.

Art. 8 – Confirmation of attendance at the award ceremony is mandatory for organizational reasons, whether in person or by delegate, with a 15-day notice prior to the date of the ceremony, which will take place on August 24th at the Cantelmo Castle of Pettorano sul Gizio (AQ).

AWARDS AND PRIZES

The first three classified will be awarded as follows:

  • 1st place prize of € 400.00 + plaque and diploma
  • 2nd place prize of € 200.00 + plaque and diploma
  • 3rd place prize of € 100.00 + plaque and diploma

The award ceremony will take place on August 24, 2024 in Pettorano sul Gizio (AQ), in the Cantelmo Castle.

The works classified in the top three positions will be read during the award ceremony.

 

ANNOUNCEMENT OF THE WINNERS

A notice of the competition results will be published on the Rewilding Apennines’ website and on the Association’s social channels. The winners will be notified at least twenty days before the award ceremony.

 

JURY

The competition jury is composed of:

  • Mario Cipollone, Team Leader of Rewilding Apennines and author of several works of fiction.
  • Bruno D’Amicis, Vice Chair of Rewilding Apennines, nature photographer and author of several photographic books.
  • Angela Tavone, Communication Manager of Rewilding Apennines.

The judgment of the jury is unappealable. For further information or clarification, please write to info@rewilding-apennines.com.

Participants are advised not to wait until the last days to submit their works.
