Protecting the Marsican brown bear, the griffon vulture, river ecosystems, or high-altitude habitats also means reimagining social and economic strategies that invest in the quality of artisanal products and services. Because sometimes, it is a cheese, a glass of wine, or a skein of wool that tells the story of a place as powerfully as a protected area.
The Rewilding Apennines enterprise network
No great territory thrives without a shared vision. That’s why we created the Rewilding Apennines enterprise Network—an ecosystem of businesses that choose to connect their brand with nature, actively contributing to the conservation of the species that inhabit it.
Our dream is to see local businesses become key players in coexistence, investing in a model where nature and economy support each other.
What makes the Central Apennines unique is its innate hospitality and the deep bond between human communities and the natural world. From immersive tourism to authentic local flavors, from traditional craftsmanship to widespread hospitality, the Apennines prove that humans and nature can thrive together.
What we do
Through our team of experts, we support nature-based enterprises, helping them grow while integrating rewilding practices into their development. In doing so, we combat economic stagnation and depopulation, two challenges that affect many areas of the Central Apennines.
With our network, we:
♦ Organize workshops for local entrepreneurs to support growth and training.
♦ Promote events that showcase businesses making nature their strength.
♦ Participate in artisanal and farmers’ markets, enhancing the visibility of local products and services.
♦ Create immersive experiences for tourists, integrating visits, tastings, overnight stays, and guided activities within member businesses.
Who are the members of our network?
Our Business Network is made up of around 30 enterprises, but more importantly, 30 passionate individuals who put their hearts into their work. Farmers, livestock breeders, nature guides, hospitality providers—people who transform their commitment into real value for the territory every day.
More than businesses, they are people. People who bring dedication and expertise to what they do, offering unique, locally rooted products and services. These businesses exist only here, in the Central Apennines, because they are born from its nature, shaped by its history, and sustained by the hands of those who live, protect, and cherish it.
Our main achievements
Thanks to the services of members of the Business Network and the participation of tourists in Rewilding experiences we are generating significant economic benefits for the small rural communities living in the central Apennines.
The members of the Enterprise Network actively contribute to the conservation of the Marsican brown bear through the Bear Fund, directly supporting concrete actions to protect this critically endangered species.
Visitors also play a role. Those who join our Rewilding Experiences not only discover the wild beauty of the Central Apennines but also become part of real, positive change—helping to restore and safeguard these unique landscapes.
A wilder, more welcoming, and sustainable Apennines is possible. Join us and make a difference.
