Natural processes are the driving force that shapes landscapes and ecosystems, ensuring their balance and resilience. Allowing nature to take its course means letting it unfold in all its extraordinary complexity.
Natural grazing, predation, organic matter recycling, river dynamics, and climate conditions are deeply interconnected. When these processes operate in harmony, the environment becomes stronger and more adaptable to change. Take the wolf, for example: its predation regulates herbivore populations, supporting grazing, the health of waterways, and the well-being of countless species that thrive in grasslands.
In collaboration with Rewilding Europe and alongside the 10 Rewilding Landscapes, we help strengthen these natural balances across the European continent, allowing them to unfold in their fullest vitality. Creating the right conditions for these processes to function means securing a sustainable future for all life forms, humans included.
Through targeted interventions, we restore the functionality of ecosystems in the Central Apennines and support the return of key species that have disappeared or are at risk of extinction. In everything we do, we are committed to fostering a harmonious coexistence between humans and wildlife, preventing conflicts and enhancing the deep, reciprocal bond that connects us to nature.
On this ambitious journey, we are fortunate to have a unique asset by our side: our volunteers! With their dedication, they turn vision into reality, playing a vital role in nature’s revival every day.
Rewilding in the Central Apennines is a tremendous effort, requiring significant human resources. Our volunteers are our greatest strength: without them, many of the activities we dedicate ourselves to would not be possible. Thanks to our partnership with Salviamo l’Orso, we welcome volunteers from all over the world each year.
Their contributions are invaluable: they help monitor wildlife, remove abandoned barbed wire from natural areas, participate in clean-up initiatives, and implement preventive measures to mitigate human-wildlife conflicts.
But their impact goes far beyond hands-on work. By immersing themselves in local communities, our volunteers also foster cultural and economic growth, supporting a mindset of coexistence with nature.
